A Community Day event will be held at the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum on Saturday May 6th, 2017. Admission to the museum and the day’s activities is FREE to the public. A variety of special events are planned for the day, including historic trade demonstrations in the lumber camp, guided forestry walks on the museum’s Sustainable Forestry Trail, and a 5-mile group hike on the trails surrounding the museum. Community-based groups and organizations will have booths set-up in the museum program room where they can spread awareness and interact with the public. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Please join us and learn about new ways that you can get involved in your community!
Foresters from Susquehannock State Forest will lead guided walks along the museum’s Sustainable Forestry Trail from the Route 6 rest area next to the museum entrance beginning at 10:30 Am and 3:30 Pm. The Susquehannock Trail Club will begin their 5 mile group hike outside of the museum visitor center at 1:00 Pm. Blacksmithing and historic trade demonstrations will take place throughout the day in the logging camp. Food and drink will be available for purchase between 9 Am and 5 Pm in the museum program room.
